The creative development of Channel 5’s flagship preschool morning block web site
Having worked with Channel 5 in 2010 on the relaunch of milkshake.tv (the channels hugely popular daily morning block for preschoolers) we were invited back once again to lend our support and experience in refreshing the creative digital strategy for Milkshake!
The primary audience of Milkshake! are pre school children but parents/guardians were a key consideration when understand the expectations and requirements of the client. The project kicked off by hosting and running a series of internal workshops with the stakeholders and producers to establish the brand and digital ambitions for Milkshake!
With a creative roadmap established agile methodologies were applied to deliver the creative vision across desktop and mobile screens. ‘Silverback’ – the usability app to analyse audience behaviour was integrated into production during the design, Alpha and Beta phases minimising the risk of developer time wastage within sprints.
Aside from delivering the front end creative for the site relaunch we were also commissioned to create and integrate a simple-to-use HTML5 game library/engine allowing games to be created on the fly using static creative assets lifted from producers/rights owner style guides. The engine was successfully delivered housing multiple audience appropriate games which could be re-skinned simply and quickly with no web development skills required.
The relaunch contributed to a significant and sustained uplift in increased streaming figures along with above target DAU’s and dwell time.
